Platycerium Alcicorne

Platycerium Alcicorne are widely known as Staghorn ferns due to their uniquely shaped fronds. Basal fronds are sterile, shield or kidney shaped and laminate against the tree and protect the fern's roots from damage and desiccation. It prefers to stay damp, but not wet. If kept too wet Staghorn ferns will deteriorate and die. Despite popular belief, it likes the sun, just not direct hot sunlight. The brighter the light the faster the plant grows.
